Step towards greener Delhi: Metro’s Line-4 gets carbon neutral certification

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has reached a significant milestone in its commitment to sustainable urban transportation, with Line-4, connecting Yamuna Bank to Vaishali in Ghaziabad, receiving a carbon neutral certification.

According to a DMRC official, “This certification underscores our dedication to providing environmentally sustainable transport solutions. Achieving carbon neutrality for Line-4 represents a major step towards a greener future and aligns with the national goal of net zero emissions by 2070.”

Energy-efficient technologies

We have integrated advanced environmental measures such as energy-efficient technologies like regenerative braking in rolling stock and the increased use of renewable power for operations. — DMRC official

This certification follows DMRC’s earlier successes in achieving similar recognition for its corporate headquarters at Metro Bhawan and its staff quarters in Noida’s Sector 50.

An official said, “We have integrated advanced environmental measures such as energy-efficient technologies like regenerative braking in rolling stock and the increased use of renewable power for operations. Our efforts also extend to water conservation with rainwater harvesting and waste management systems, which have further reduced our environmental impact.”
