Strong primary education key to nation’s future: Guv

Haryana Governor Prof Ashim Kumar Ghosh on Thursday emphasised the stronger the foundation of primary education, the brighter the future of the nation.

He made the remarks while interacting with parents during his visit to Government Girls Sanskriti Model Primary Schools in Ghamroj-Alipur and Kanhai villages in Gurugram. The Governor inspected both schools and held discussions with students, parents and teachers.

Prof Ghosh noted while he serves as Chancellor of universities in the state, he places equal importance on primary education. He underlined the need to improve facilities in government primary schools and called for involvement of teachers and parents.

Speaking with parents, the Governor urged regular communication with teachers regarding their children’s education. He also urged them to share suggestions for improving school infrastructure and academic standards and to seek support from representatives of Panchayati Raj institutions and local bodies.

Prof Ghosh interacted with students about their academic and sporting interests. He reviewed basic facilities such as mid-day meals, drinking water and sanitation. Students at both schools performed cultural programmes and teachers briefed him on the syllabus and student projects. He also visited an exhibition showcasing educational models created by the students.

At Government Girls Sanskriti Model Primary School in Kanhai, he announced assistance of Rs 50,000 from his personal fund to reward students securing the top three positions in various sports activities. In Ghamroj-Alipur village, he planted saplings to promote the message of environmental conservation.
