Student body holds‘shakti march’ to honour Indira Gandhi, armed forces
The National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) on Monday organised a nationwide ‘shakti march’ to pay tribute to former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi’s leadership and to honour the courage and sacrifice of the Indian Armed Forces.
Led by the NSUI national president, Varun Choudhary, the main march in the National Capital proceeded from the NSUI headquarters to Jantar Mantar, drawing widespread participation from students and youth across the country. Marchers stood in solidarity against terrorism and voiced strong support for India’s sovereignty and national security.
Addressing the gathering, Choudhary invoked the legacy of Indira Gandhi, praising her decisive leadership during the 1971 Indo-Pak war. “India needs leadership with the clarity and strength of Indira Gandhi. She never bowed to foreign pressure and gave a historic response to Pakistan. Under her leadership, national security was never compromised,” he said.
Choudhary also raised concerns over what he described as increasing external interference in India’s internal affairs. “India’s decisions must be grounded in national interest. On matters concerning our borders and sovereignty, there is no room for compromise,” he asserted.
The Shakti March was organised in various cities across the country, with NSUI aiming to inspire the younger generation to uphold national values and remember the sacrifices made by India’s armed forces. The student body reiterated its commitment to fearless leadership, unity and the preservation of national integrity.
