Investigation in the case of a student being shot at by his classmate, at a flat in Sector 48, using his father’s licenced pistol, has revealed that the accused acted out of the victim ignoring his attempts to elicit a response on some matter.
Two minor accused, apprehended in connection with the case, were sent to a correction facility in Faridabad after being produced before the Juvenile Justice Board. The condition of the victim, a Class XI student, remains critical.
According to the police, the bullet went through the neck but some fragments remain. His neck bone got shattered. He is being treated at a private hospital.
A senior investigation officer said that all three students, including the victim and the accused, were classmates. During questioning, the accused revealed that the victim student was looking at something on his mobile phone. He was talking to the victim who didn’t respond. Then in a fit of anger, he shot him.
An FIR has been registered at the Sadar police station. The police said they have seized one pistol, two magazines, 70 cartridges, and a bullet shell from the spot.
The incident took place at around 9.30 pm on Saturday. Three classmates were in the accused’s rented flat when the spat occurred.
After receiving information, a police team reached the spot, rushed the injured to the hospital, and took the other two students into custody.
