The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has suspended a teacher and principal of MCD School in Rajiv Nagar-2, Shahdara North Zone, following an incident where a Class I student was allegedly slapped, leading to internal bleeding in the ear.

The MC Commissioner has approved the suspension of the teacher and the principal with immediate effect for manhandling the child, emphasising the corporation’s zero-tolerance policy toward such incidents.

The incident took place on February 17, but it came to light the next day after a PCR call was made.

The student was taken to JPC Hospital, where medical tests revealed internal bleeding in the ear. While the student’s mother initially refrained from giving a formal statement, citing her husband’s absence due to travel, the police have proceeded with an investigation.

Upon legal review, the police determined that the case warranted charges under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Juvenile Justice Act. The MCD has reiterated its commitment to the welfare of its students and adopting best pedagogical practices, stressing that any form of manhandling will not be tolerated in its schools.
