A teenager drowned to death in the deep waters of the Dhankot canal while bathing with his friends on Monday afternoon. A team of divers took out the body from the canal after two hours of efforts. The police have started the proceedings by sending the body to the mortuary for the post-mortem examination.

According to the police, the deceased was identified as Aadi (13), a resident of Rajendra Park. His father Naveen works as a labourer. It was around 12 pm when he had gone to the canal with his friends. While bathing, his feet slipped and he fell into the water body. When he did not come out for a long time, his friends informed the police about it.

Upon receiving information, a police team reached the spot and called the SDRF and the diving team. The team carried out the operation for two hours. Following this, his body was taken out from the canal.

A senior police official said his body had been kept in the mortuary and a probe was underway into the matter.
