Gurugram: Teenager stabs friend to death over ‘girlfriend’

A teenager stabbed his friend to death, furious over his interaction with the girl whom both presumed to be their ‘girlfriend’. In a planned manner, the 15-yr-old accused called his friend outside his house on the pretext of having beer. A police spokesperson said a joint team of the crime unit and the Sector 40 police station apprehended the accused juvenile within hours of the murder from Rewari on Thursday.
“Both the accused and the deceased lived in Jharsa and were friends. The deceased was friends with a girl for the last one and a half years. The girl had also started talking to the accused in the last few days on social media platform Instagram. When the accused came to know that the girl with whom he talked was also in touch with the deceased, he nursed a grudge against the deceased,” said Varun Dahiya, ACP crime.
Friendship gone awry
- The two boys were friends and lived in the same village
- The accused called the victim from his home on the pretext of having beer
- He stabbed him with a knife which he brought from the market on Tuesday
- The deceased worked as a waiter
The accused planned to murder his friend and he bought a knife for Rs 150 on Tuesday which the police recovered from the possession of the accused.
According to the police, the incident took place in Sector 40 late Wednesday night. A security guard informed the police that a youth was lying in a pool of blood outside a house in Sector 40.
The police found knife marks on the neck and stomach of the 16-year-old teenager. The guard informed the police that the boy had come running running and fell, after which he informed the police. Later, the teenager was identified as a native of Chattarpur in Madhya Pradesh. The family of the deceased came to Gurugram 15 years ago and lived in Jharsa village. The deceased used to work as a waiter with a tent house. The labourer father of the deceased said that his son was home at 9.30 pm on Wednesday night when someone called him up and took him away. In the morning the police informed him about the incident.
The 15-year-old accused boy also lived in Jharsa. An FIR of murder was registered at the Sector 40 police station. “We handed over the body to kin after the postmortem. We are questioning the juvenile accused,” said the investigating officer.
