According to the police, staff from KN Katju Marg discovered an unconscious, injured individual lying along the road in Sector 16, Rohini, on Monday. The individual was later identified as Shakti, a resident of Sector 17, Rohini. His parents arrived at the scene, and Shakti was rushed to Dr Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hospital, where he was declared dead upon arrival. His body was kept for a postmortem examination, and a case was registered under Sections 103(1) (murder) and 3(5) (common intention) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, based on the statement given by the deceased’s mother.

“She expressed suspicion towards several boys who had previously assaulted and threatened her son,” an officer said.

“During the initial investigation, it was revealed that the alleged perpetrators had arrived at the crime scene in a red Thar. Around 300-400 CCTV footages from the vicinity were analysed,” the officer added.

The police said the car’s ownership information led them to Piyush Pandey (19), a resident of Sector 11, Rohini, who was subsequently arrested. Upon sustained questioning, Pandey confessed to his involvement in the murder and divulged the identities of his accomplices. The police then conducted raids and arrested two more suspects — Rachit Rajput (20) from Azad Market and Raghav Mittal (21) from Sector 11, Rohini.

“During interrogation, all three disclosed that on the evening of July 15, while roaming in the Thar car, they encountered Shakti in Sector 16, Rohini. Harbouring a previous enmity, they stopped the car, stabbed him and fled the scene. Their motive, as revealed, was revenge for past conflicts with the deceased,” an official said.

“Raids are being carried out at possible hideouts to nab their fourth accomplice. Further investigation is in progress,” said the police official.
