A two-and-a-half-year-old child drowned in a drain dug by the Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC) in Rupaheri village in Nuh. The child's maternal uncle has accused the contractor of leaving the drain open and not taking action on the complaint. An FIR was registered against an unknown contractor.

According to Junaid's complaint, about two months ago, the drain, approximately 10 to 12 feet deep, was dug up by the HSIIDC. Despite several requests by villagers to install wire fencing or put some tin sheds, no action was taken by the HSIIDC officials or the contracter.

“Due to heavy rains, the drain was filled with water. On July 12, my nephew went missing around 3:00pm. After hours of searching, we found his body in the same drain at around 8:30 pm. The villagers took out the body out of the drain,” Junaid said in his complaint.

Following the complaint, the Nuh police registered an FIR against an unknown contractor. A senior officer confirmed that after the medical examination, Arsh’s body was handed over to his family on Sunday. Investigations into the case are currently underway.
