On the occasion of Kartik Purnima, Delhi Tourism Minister Kapil Mishra unveiled the “Indraprasth Anthem” during a grand cultural evening held at the historic Purana Qila.
The event, jointly organised by the Government of Delhi and the Draupadi Dream Trust, celebrated Delhi’s ancient heritage and its connection to the Mahabharata-era city of Indraprastha.
The evening brought together eminent personalities including Harish Bhimani, the celebrated voice of “Main Samay Hoon” from BR Chopra’s Mahabharata; Dr YS Rawat, Director General of the Archaeological Survey of India; Padma Shri awardee and noted archaeologist KK Muhammed; and Neera Misra, Founder and Chairperson of the Draupadi Dream Trust.
A highlight of the event was the Kathak dance-drama performance “Shri Krishna–Draupadi Samvad: Decoding Maharani Draupadi”, which artistically portrayed the cultural richness of Indraprastha and its deep spiritual symbolism.
Addressing the gathering, Mishra said, “The sacred day of Kartik Purnima and the historic Purana Qila together represent the true heritage of Delhi. Today, we are reviving the real history of this city — a history that has long been hidden or misrepresented.”
He further emphasised that Kartik Purnima should be recognized as the real Foundation Day of Delhi, marking the establishment of Indraprasth — the city linked to Lord Krishna and the Pandavas.
