Tourism official lands in CBI net for taking graft

A senior manager at India Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) was caught red-handed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) while accepting a bribe of Rs 40,000 from a complainant in lieu of clearing bills, the agency said on Friday.

The case dates back to Wednesday when a complainant approached the CBI alleging that the accused demanded a bribe of Rs 1 lakh from the complainant for clearing the pending bills.

After due negotiations, the accused agreed to accept the bribe amount of Rs 40,000 from the complainant.

Acting on the complaint, the CBI laid a trap and caught him red-handed while accepting the bribe. Subsequently, he was arrested.

The agency said further investigation was on in the matter and involvement of any other official from the department is also under scanner.

The CBI advised people to report the instances of corruption by government officials if they come across any such instances.
