Ahead of the Delhi Assembly elections, two Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) municipal councillors, Ravindra Solanki from Baprola and Narendra Girsa from Mangalapuri, officially joined the BJP on Friday. The joining ceremony took place in the presence of Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva, Union Minister of State Harsh Malhotra, MP Kamaljeet Sehrawat and other BJP leaders.

Sachdeva welcomed the new entrants with BJP scarves, asserting that their decision to join the party reflected the growing dissatisfaction with AAP’s governance. He criticised the AAP-led Delhi government for its “corruption and mismanagement over the last decade”, claiming that every initiative undertaken by the AAP government had been marred by corruption.

“People of Delhi are tired of AAP’s misrule, and with the upcoming elections on February 5, the party’s downfall will begin. Delhi will witness the formation of a double-engine government, ensuring rapid development,” Sachdeva said.

Sehrawat also expressed her discontent with the AAP’s performance, particularly in the municipal corporation. She highlighted the inadequate funds allocated for development, pointing out that councillors were only provided Rs 15 lakh for development works over the last two years.

Sehrawat said the trust placed in AAP by the people had been broken by Arvind Kejriwal’s leadership.

She further praised Solanki and Girsa for their dedication to their respective constituencies and expressed confidence that their shift to the BJP would bring about consistent development in the Baprola and Mangalapuri areas.
