The accused have been identified as Mahesh Yadav (23), of Rajasthan, and Anuj (28), a resident of Mahendergarh in Haryana. They allegedly demanded money by claiming that there were drugs in the parcel and threatened to file an FIR against the victim.

According to the police, a person had filed a complaint that he received a call from an unknown number in which the caller informed him that his parcel containing passport and drugs had been seized by the Customs Department. Later, another caller introduced himself as Customs officer and threatened to file an FIR. Soon after, a fake police officer made a video call and threatened him with digital arrest. By scaring the victim, a large amount of money was withdrawn from his bank account.
