According to the Delhi Police, the incident took place around 4:30 am near a municipal kiosk on Vivekanand Marg. A call was received from Sunil, the owner of a municipal dhaba, reporting that two of his employees had been electrocuted near the shop. The victims, identified as Ravinder (30) and Bharat (25), were reportedly sleeping outside the kiosk when the current spread through the waterlogged area.

“The fallen tree damaged the electricity wire, resulting in the flow of current near the kiosk. Water was accumulated in the area, which turned fatal,” said a senior police officer.

Eyewitnesses said: “We were sleeping when the dhaba owner came running and informed us about the incident. There was waterlogging in the area, causing the current to flow. As a result, both men and a stray dog died due to electrocution,” said Shrawan, a resident of the area.

After getting information, police teams and electricity board officials reached the spot. The bodies of both men were shifted to a hospital for post-mortem examination. An investigation has been initiated into the incident.
