A Sub-Inspector (SI) and Constable of the Sector 40 crime unit team were killed while two other police personnel were injured after their SUV collided with a tractor-trailer loaded with iron pipes near Dhanauri village on Bundelkhand Expressway in Uttar Pradesh on Sunday night. The Gurugram police have paid tributes to the deceased personnel.
According to the police, the deceased were identified as SI Sanjay Kumar (45), a resident of Tumbaheri village in Haryana’s Jhajjar district, and Constable Amit (34), a resident of Sitaram Gate, Jhajjar. The accident took place on the expressway when all four officials were on their way to Chhattisgarh as part of an ongoing investigation.
According to the police, SI Kumar was born on June 1 in 1980 at his residence in Tumbaheri village of Jhajjar district. He joined the Haryana Police as a constable on November 20, 1998. He had been serving in the police in Gurugram from May 25 in 2019 and was posted in Sector 40 crime unit on March 22, 2021.
Constable Amit was born on January 10 in 1991 at his residence in Ward No. 3, Sitaram Chowk, Jhajjar district. He was appointed as a Constable in the Haryana Police on March 3, 2019, and had been serving in the crime unit since July 10, 2024.
