The accused have been identified as Shishir Hubert Rozario (35), a resident of Kaliganj, Ghazipur district in Bangladesh, and Mohd Tauhidur Rahman (33), a resident of Cox Bazar, Bangladesh.

Officials said they entered India illegally in 2014 and had been staying without valid visas.

The police got a tip-off that some illegal Bangladeshi migrants were seeking accommodation in Mahipalpur. After getting information, a team questioned the accused. When asked to produce identification documents, they failed to show any valid papers and admitted to being illegal Bangladeshi migrants.

The police said Rahman had a criminal past. He had been previously booked in a Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) case at the Sector 40 police station in Gurugram, Haryana.

After verification and enquiry, the deportation process was initiated through the Foreigners Regional Registration Office, New Delhi.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (South West District) Amit Goel said the operation was part of the ongoing efforts to identify and take action against foreigners staying illegally in the district.
