Two killed in fire at Kirti Nagar furniture market

A devastating fire in a furniture market in Kirti Nagar, Delhi, early Sunday morning claimed lives of two persons who were unable to escape due to choking.

The victims were identified as 45-year-old Atul Rai from Azamgarh, Uttar Pradesh, and 65-year-old Nand Kishore Dubey from Gaya, Bihar. Both men were reportedly sleeping inside the shop when the fire erupted. Rai worked as a labourer, while Dubey was a rickshaw driver.

The police received an alert about the fire around 4:30 am and promptly dispatched seven fire engines to the scene. Firefighters worked for several hours to control the blaze. Tragically, both men succumbed to suffocation before they could escape. A Forensic Science Laboratoryteam was called in to investigate the cause of the fire.
