The contraband was discovered in a concealed cavity of a truck that had travelled from Odisha to Delhi. The accused — Deepak (36) and Sunil Malik, alias Kala (25), both residents of Sonipat, Haryana, — were arrested on Friday in Rohini.

According to the police, the arrests followed two months of surveillance, technical inputs and analysis of CCTV footage from toll plazas. The accused were allegedly working under Sanjeev Rana, who had registered the truck in Malik’s name.

After delivering a chips consignment in Kolkata, the duo picked up the marijuana from Brahmapur, Odisha. They then loaded paper rolls in Jamshedpur to mask their illegal cargo and travelled through Bihar and Uttar Pradesh before reaching Delhi.

During interrogation, the men confessed that they were in the Capital to hand over the consignment to an associate. The truck used for transporting the drugs has been seized.
