The joint operation was carried out by the Anti-Auto Theft Squad (AATS) and the Anti-Narcotics Cell of Dwarka district.

The incident took place on October 28, when a PCR call was received about firing at Arjun Park, Najafgarh. The complainant, Rohit, stated that while he was smoking with a friend, three persons arrived in a car and fired multiple rounds at him, with the intent to kill, before fleeing the spot.

The cops recovered four-five used cartridges and registered a case under Sections 109(1), 3(5), related to attempt to murder, of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Arms Act at Najafgarh police station.

Using CCTV analysis, technical surveillance, and inputs from local informers, the team traced the accused to Mussoorie, Uttarakhand. On October 30, acting on specific intelligence, the police apprehended two men involved in the incident.

Mobile phones used during the crime were recovered from their possession.

During interrogation, it was revealed that Deepak, who was previously in judicial custody in Jhajjar Jail for theft and robbery, had a personal enmity with the complainant Rohit Lamba due to a quarrel inside the jail. After his release, Deepak allegedly conspired with Himanshu Bahu, who is currently abroad, to eliminate Rohit.

According to the accused, Deepak introduced them to his associates and shared Rohit’s photograph, instructing them to track his movements. Deepak arranged for a vehicle — a Scorpio later replaced by a Brezza car — and promised them a substantial amount for executing the attack. After firing, the shooters travelled to Bahadurgarh via Baprola-Mundka and then fled to Mussoorie on the instructions of Himanshu Bahu and Naveen Bali.
