A video went viral on social media showing two bikers openly drinking beer while riding their motorcycle on Sohna Road. The video, reportedly taken by a woman in a car, shows the two young men holding bottles of beer and riding without helmets. The woman took to X to share the video, tagging the Deputy Commissioner and Gurugram police, and wrote, “Two boys drunk driving with beer bottles in their hands, no helmets, almost hitting cars and people, and the cops said, ‘post it on social media’. Is this what safety looks like on our roads?”

The video depicts the riders’ reckless behaviour, with them nearly hitting other vehicles and pedestrians. Despite the alarming footage, the Gurugram police’s initial response was to ask the woman to post the video on social media. However, after the video went viral, the police took action, although the details of the action taken were not disclosed.

The incidents of dangerous driving and stunts on Gurugram’s roads continue to plague the city. Such cases are reported daily, and while the police take action, the behaviour persists. Drinking and driving is a serious offense that not only violates the Motor Vehicles Act but also constitutes a crime under the Reckless Driving and Endangering the Lives of Others Act.

A spokesperson for the Gurugram police stated, “Such a case has come to our notice, and we are searching for the bike and the riders. Strict action will be taken against them.”
