During the exchange of fire, the accused sustained a gunshot wound to his leg and was taken to hospital for treatment.
According to police, the accused has been identified as Ramandeep alias Petrol (24), a resident of Kherka village in Sirsa district. He is wanted in over a dozen serious criminal cases, including murder, attempt to murder, robbery and dacoity. Officials confirmed he had jumped bail in one of the cases and has been on the run since.
The police seized a pistol, six empty cartridges and a numberless motorcycle from his possession. A fresh FIR has been registered against him at the Manesar police station.
