Notorious gangster Joginder Geong, alias Joga Don, wanted by the Haryana and Delhi police, was deported from the Philippines and arrested upon his arrival at the Delhi airport on Sunday. Geong, a convicted criminal involved in over 15 cases, including murder, is a key member of the Kaushal Chaudhary gang. He leads a criminal syndicate operating across Delhi, Haryana, and Punjab, according to police officials.

Geong’s deportation from Manila on Saturday marks a significant breakthrough in curbing organised crime in the region.

Parmod Kushwaha, Additional Commissioner of Police (Special Cell), Delhi Police, revealed that Geong was a close associate of Kaushal Chaudhary, whose gang had been linked to targeted killings in Punjab.

“Geong’s brother, Surinder Geong, was also a prominent aide of Chaudhary until he was killed in an encounter with the Haryana Police in 2017. Following his brother’s death, Joginder fled to the Philippines via Nepal,” Kushwaha said.

While Chaudhary remains incarcerated, Geong had been attempting to revive the gang’s network from Manila.

“Chaudhary’s association with terror networks was a major concern. He provided logistical support to shooters involved in three high-profile murders in Punjab — Gurlal Brar, Vicky Middukhera, and Sandeep Nangal Ambian. These killings were orchestrated by Arsh Dalla and Lucky Patial of the Khalistan Tiger Force (KTF), who also collaborated with the Davinder Bambiha gang,” Kushwaha added.

Geong’s deportation followed a judicial process after he was tracked down in Manila. He will now be handed over to the Haryana Police, as multiple cases are pending against him in the state.

Sources revealed that Geong had been living in the Philippines under a fraudulently obtained passport in the name of Kant Gupta. A case regarding the fake passport was registered in July last year after his arrest by Philippine authorities.

Operating primarily in Karnal, Panipat, and Kaithal districts, Geong had been attempting to re-establish his extortion network. He was sentenced to life imprisonment in a 2006 murder case, but fled the country in 2017 after murdering Jagdev Sharma in Panipat while on parole. A reward of Rs 50,000 had been announced for information leading to his arrest in connection with the Panipat murder.

Geong’s criminal record spans over 24 heinous crimes, including murder, kidnapping, extortion, and robbery, across Delhi, Haryana, and Punjab. Notably, he was previously deported from South Africa in 2007 but managed to flee to the Philippines after his release.
