We’ll soon fix Adarsh Nagar water pipeline leak, says DJB
New Delhi, February 18
The Adarsh Nagar area here is soon going to get rid of the problem of water pipeline leakage and water-logging, according to the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) Vice-Chairman Somnath Bharti on his visit to the place.
Bharti, along with officials of the DJB, visited the Mangal Mazar area that falls in the Adarsh Nagar Assembly constituency and inspected the water-logging and pipeline leakage that took place in the area on Friday.
He said the work to plug the leaking pipeline would begin on February 23 and the problem of water-logging would be eliminated.
Bharti said, “CM Arvind Kejriwal has given clear instructions to inspect areas from where complaints related to water leakage are being received and resolve the problems immediately.”
The reason for the Adarsh Nagar problem is that a 700mm pipeline passes through the area and this was laid here 35 years ago. The leakage happened in the old pipeline of the DJB, he added.
He said the DJB officials had informed him that the board had issued a tender for repairing the pipeline. Tenders had been issued multiple times, but there had been no response to these. The reason for zero interest among the bidders towards previous tenders was that some contractors were not paid their dues “due to a conspiracy” hatched by the BJP to halt the DJB works, officials said.
The tenders would be floated for the work on February 22.
