What our readers say: NHAI must repair roads urgently
POLITICIANS often announce that sufficient funds have been allocated for road repairs, yet there is little to no visible improvement. Potholes and uneven roads continue to cause accidents, with recent rains worsening the situation. Residents are frustrated by the poor condition of the roads, which have turned daily commuting into a nightmare. The National Highways Authority of India and local authorities must collaborate and prioritise urgent repairs to address these critical issues.

Poor upkeep of space under railway overbridges, flyovers
THE poor maintenance of areas beneath railway flyovers and overbridges in the city has led to encroachments and the rise of anti-social activities. Most major flyovers connecting the national highway to parts of NIT in the city are affected by illegal constructions and encroachments due to the lack of oversight from relevant departments and civic authorities. In many locations, garbage and waste are regularly dumped, while illegal shanties and makeshift shelters have sprung up, worsening the area’s condition. The authorities should consider developing these spaces into green belts and take measures to
prevent further encroachments.
