In several localities of Old Gurugram, during the peak of Assembly election campaigning, politicians and their supporters have the audacity to walk through waterlogged streets, asking for votes. They should be ashamed of the poor, unhygienic conditions in their constituencies. People should vote for candidates who can, at the very least, provide basic facilities to people

Jaywalking posing risk of accidents

JAYWALKING or crossing the road carelessly by pedestrians without following traffic rules has been a cause for concern. While several accidents have taken place involving pedestrians and cyclists, the main cause of accidents has been the violation of traffic rules, by people who tend to cross the roads from any point. Crossing highways where vehicles move at a high speed has resulted in several accidents and fatalities. Preventive measures such as foot overbridges need to be taken and stricter rules need to be imposed to stop jaywalking. SK Sharma, Faridabad
