A woman and her lover have been arrested for allegedly strangling her husband to death in the NIT area of Faridabad. The police acted after the deceased’s family filed a complaint and the wife is currently being questioned.

According to the complaint filed by Surajpal, a resident of Krishna Nagar, his son Arun worked as a cleaner at a private hospital and had been suffering from a fever for several days. On Thursday, his wife Poonam brought Arun to her parents’ home in the NIT 5 area, claiming she was taking him for treatment. She then allegedly called her lover to the house and strangled Arun while he was sleeping after taking medicine. No one else was at home at the time.

“After killing her husband, Poonam called me and said Arun had died of illness. She also informed my son about Arun’s death. When we arrived, I saw Arun’s body and noticed deep marks on his neck. It appears he was strangled with a belt,” Surajpal said in his complaint.

Following the complaint, the police registered a murder FIR against Poonam and her lover. Poonam has been detained and confessed to the crime.

“According to the family, Arun and Poonam had been married for seven years. Disputes between them began soon after their marriage. Poonam has been taken into custody, while the identities of those involved in Arun’s murder will be revealed only after further interrogation. The body was handed over to the family following a post-mortem, and the investigation is ongoing,” said ASI Naresh Kumar, the investigating officer.
