Faridabad police have solved a blind murder case with the arrest of a woman and her lover, who allegedly murdered her husband. The body of the deceased, identified as Rakesh (35), was found in a gutter in Sector 56 on Tuesday. An FIR has been registered at Mujesar police station.
According to the police, Rakesh, a resident of Sanjay Colony in Sector 23, had been missing since January 31, when his brother Santosh filed a complaint. Santosh reported that Rakesh had left home around 5:30 pm but never returned.
An FIR for a missing person was registered, and on February 3, Rakesh’s body was discovered in a roadside gutter in Sector 56.
Suspecting foul play, the family of the deceased raised concerns, leading to the inclusion of murder charges after the post-mortem.
The Crime Branch DLF team later arrested Vijay Narayan, a resident of Sanjay Colony, Sector 56, who confessed to the crime during interrogation.
“During interrogation, accused Vijay Narayan revealed that he was friends with the deceased’s wife Ranjeeta. Rakesh used to beat his wife Ranjeeta after drinking alcohol. Ranjeeta and he made a plan to remove Rakesh from their way,” said a spokesperson of police.
“On the evening of January 31, he made the deceased Rakesh drink liquor and mixed intoxicants in it in Sector 56. After Rakesh became unconscious, the accused committed the murder by strangulating Rakesh with a muffler and threw his body in a nearby gutter. The deceased’s wife Ranjeeta has also been arrested. Both will be taken on police remand for questioning,” the spokesperson of Faridabad police added.
