Woman stabbed to death inside Shahdara temple

A 48-year-old woman was stabbed to death inside a temple in East Delhi’s Mansarovar Park area of Shahdara on Sunday, the police said.

According to the police, a PCR call was received at around 12 noon regarding the incident at the temple located within the DDA Flats complex. The caller stated that a woman had been stabbed in the head. After getting information, police teams rushed to the spot.

The deceased was identified as Kusum Sharma, a resident of Ramnagar in MS Park. She was rushed to GTB Hospital where doctors declared her dead on arrival.

Initial investigation suggests that an unidentified man repeatedly attacked the woman with a knife, causing fatal injuries. The police said the reason behind the attack was not yet known and efforts were on to identify and trace the accused.

The police cordoned off the area after the incident and began examining the spot. Statements of people present in and around the park are being recorded. CCTV cameras installed near the DDA Flats and surrounding areas are also being checked.

A case has been registered and further proceedings are underway.
