Woman strangled, tied to stone & dumped in canal
In a gut-wrenching case of murder, a 22-year-old woman, Komal, was first strangulated to death by two ‘known’ men in a car, who then drove the vehicle for around 40 km in search of a secluded place, tied her body to a rock and ultimately disposed it of by dumping it in a drain in west Delhi’s Chhawla area.
The police arrested two persons, identified as Asif and Zubair, in connection with the incident. Preliminary interrogation revealed that the victim declined Asif’s advances, which enraged him and he strangled her in a fit of rage in East Delhi.
Sharing details, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Dwarka) Ankti Singh said they received a PCR call regarding a body floating over Najafgarh drain in Chhawla area. Following this, a police team rushed to the spot and retrieved the body.
“A forensic team was called to the spot. They examined the body and even the area probably from where it was dumped into the drain,” the DCP said, adding the body was sent for post-mortem examination.
Based on the circumstances, the police registered a case of murder and began investigating the matter by first trying to identify the deceased woman.
“During investigation, we came to know that a missing report of a woman named Komal was lodged at the Seemapuri police station on March 13. Soon, we identified the body and started searching the accused,” the DCP said.
With the help of technical and manual investigation, the police identified two persons named Asif and Zubair, who were last seen with the woman, as the prime suspects of murder.
“They were tracked and arrested. Preliminary interrogation revealed that both Asif and Komal knew each other from a long time,” the officer said.
Further interrogation revealed that on March 12, an argument ensued between Asif and Komal, which turned violent and Asif with the help of Zubair strangled her. They then drove her dead body and dumped it in Najafgarh drain after tying it to a stone.
