The victim’s father-in-law and mother-in-law had already been arrested and are currently in jail. The police arrested the sister-in-law of the victim today, who has been identified as Kajal. Efforts are now underway to trace the victim’s husband, Arun, who remains absconding.

“The team of Crime Branch, DLF, also investigated the role of sister-in-law Kajal of the deceased and found that on the day of the incident, Kajal had helped her father Bhoop Singh and brother Arun in burying the body of Tannu in the pit. She was keeping a watch while the body was being buried in the pit. The accused Kajal was sent into judicial custody after being produced in a city court today,” said the spokesperson of Faridabad police.

Earlier, the main accused, father-in-law Bhoop Singh, during interrogation, made shocking revelations that the murder was premeditated and that he had raped Tannu before killing her. The murder of 24-year-old Tannu was allegedly planned on April 15, with her mother-in-law and husband also involved in the conspiracy.

It may be noted that 24-year-old Tannu was allegedly killed and buried in front of her house by her in-laws, who managed to keep the incident, and the body, hidden for almost two months by falsely reporting her as missing.

The woman, Tannu Kumar, a native of Shikohabad in the Firozabad district of Uttar Pradesh, had married Arun Singh of the Roshan Nagar area in Faridabad two years ago.

The pit was excavated in the presence of Naib Tehsildar Jaswant Singh and Tannu’s body was exhumed. An FIR was registered against four members of her in-laws’ family — Bhoop Singh, his wife Sonia, son Arun Singh and daughter Kajal — at Palla police station.

The father-in-law was arrested first by the police, followed by his wife Sonia on June 25. Now, their daughter Kajal has also been arrested. However, their son Arun remains at large.
