Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) president Devender Yadav on Saturday criticised the BJP-led Delhi Government, accusing it of failing to deliver on its promises despite unveiling what it described as a “historic” Rs 1 lakh crore Budget.

Yadav said the Rekha Gupta Government’s claims of development had “fallen flat”, with only 36 per cent of budgetary allocations spent by various departments in the first six months of its tenure.

He alleged that the BJP Government lacked both vision and long-term planning, and that governance continued to be driven by bureaucrats. “The absence of strong political leadership in the BJP Government to keep the wheels of development moving through time-bound project execution is clearly evident,” he claimed. “Bureaucrats are still calling the shots, as they had during the previous corrupt and directionless Kejriwal-led AAP regime, exposing the BJP’s hollow rhetoric.”

Recalling Chief Minister Rekha Gupta’s maiden Rs 1 lakh crore budget, Yadav said that while it had outlined ten focus areas — including power, roads, water supply, and connectivity — her declaration that the “era of corruption and inefficiency was over” now rings hollow. “The sluggish pace of project execution shows the government has completely failed in the business of governance,” he added.

Yadav further claimed that despite a 31.5 per cent increase in the Budget outlay, there had been “no visible improvement on the ground”, citing deteriorating roads and persistent water shortages.

He also accused the government of failing to honour key poll promises such as subsidised LPG cylinders and Rs 2,500 monthly assistance to every woman in Delhi.
