Members of the Indian Youth Congress (IYC) on Sunday pasted posters on the alleged ‘vote chori’ allegations on one of the walls of the Chief Election Commission’s office in Delhi.
The allegation stems from Leader of Opposition (LoP) in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi’s recent press conference, where he alleged that one in eight — 25 lakh of the two crore — votes in the 2024 Haryana Assembly polls were fake, including that of “a Brazilian model who appeared 22 times on the electoral roll at the Rai booth”.
On this, IYC national president Uday Bhanu Chib said, “We will not allow democracy to be auctioned off. The vote theft was carried out by three main accused: Gyanesh Kumar, Sukhbir Sandhu, and Vivek Joshi. Today, along with my colleagues in Delhi, I have pasted posters of these murderers of democracy outside the Election Commission’s office.”
Chib mentioned that the main purpose behind putting up these posters was to question the EC: how did this woman, who is from Brazil, cast 22 votes in the Haryana Assembly elections?
“This clearly means that our country’s Election Commission was asleep when this rigging was taking place,” he added.
The entire country is asking these questions, and the EC will have to answer, the Youth Congress leader further said.
