In the wake of heavy rainfall and strong winds that lashed Delhi late on Saturday night, Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva praised the swift response of the city’s present administration under Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, contrasting it sharply with the handling of similar situations under the previous Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government.

Sachdeva acknowledged that monsoon-related challenges such as waterlogging and fallen trees are an annual issue in the Capital. However, he claimed that this year, the situation was brought under control much more efficiently thanks to the proactive approach of the BJP-led government.

“When Delhiites woke up this morning, they were greeted with the aftermath of the storm such as waterlogged streets and fallen trees. By 9 am, major obstructions were cleared and traffic was moving smoothly in most areas. By noon, normalcy was largely restored,” said Sachdeva.

He credited the quick recovery to instructions issued by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, under which BJP MLAs, municipal councillors and officials from departments like the Delhi Jal Board and the Public Works Department immediately took to the streets, despite it being a Sunday. The coordinated effort, he said, reflected a new culture of accountability in Delhi governance.

Drawing a comparison with the previous administration, Sachdeva said, “After every rainy season, Delhiites can see the difference between the Kejriwal government’s blame game and the BJP’s hands-on approach. While the AAP government would point fingers at the Lieutenant Governor or bureaucracy and leave citizens stranded, the present government takes full responsibility and leads from the front.” The Delhi BJP chief said the present administration remains committed to efficient governance, especially during the times of crisis. He assured residents that the government would continue to work in close coordination with civic agencies to ensure timely responses to weather-related disruptions throughout the monsoon season.
