Man held for theft at jewellery shop

A man, who allegedly broke into a jewellery shop in Northeast Delhi’s Gokalpuri area by cutting a hole in the roof and fleeing with ornaments and electronic items, has been arrested, the police said on Sunday.

According to officials, the incident came to light on July 13 when shop owner Karan Verma lodged a complaint stating that his store was burgled the previous night. The intruder had gained entry by cutting a hole in the roof, and several gold and silver items were reported missing.

Following the complaint, the police registered a case and launched an investigation. With the help of footage and other evidence, the accused was identified. The accused, Yogesh Kumar (24), a resident of Gokalpur village, was apprehended during a raid, officials said.

The police recovered approximately 20 grams of gold, 1.65 kg of silver, a tablet and two mobile phones from his possession. Further investigation is on to determine if he was involved in any other similar thefts.
