Mohali, March 20
In view of the ongoing panic buying, the district administration directed the District Food and Supplies Controller (DFSC) to make arrangements for continued availability of food items, cooking gas and other commodities and to coordinate with wholesalers and retailers.
Deputy Commissioner Girish Dayalan said areas must be divided among food inspectors, along with Secretary Market Committees, and daily update should be given to respective SDMs. Furthermore, drug inspectors should make a list of all medical shops to ensure supply of medicines, he added.
He said shops in neighbourhoods and hawkers selling door-to-door vegetables have adequate supply. He also asked the authorities concerned to ensure continuous supply of water. tns
