The Director General of Police (DGP), Jammu and Kashmir, Nalin Prabhat visited the Lolab Valley in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district — a region once known for terrorism and unrest.

This is a first visit of a high-ranking police officer in recent times to this remote and sensitive area, which lies close to the Line of Control and has faced security challenges for many years.

A senior official said, “The DGP’s visit aimed to review the law and order situation, assess security arrangements, and boost the morale of local police forces”.

The official said that the visit was also meant to send a clear message — that there will be zero tolerance for terrorism and violence and that the administration is serious about ensuring lasting peace in every part of the Union Territory.
