Canadian court grants bail to 4 Indians charged with killing Khalistani terrorist Nijjar

The Canadian Supreme Court on Thursday granted bail to the four Indians accused of killing Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar.

The case would now be heard on February 11 in the British Columbia Supreme Court. The bail was granted due to lack of evidence, reports News18.

Karan Brar, Amandeep Singh, Kamalpreet Singh, and Karanpreet Singh were charged with first-degree murder and conspiracy to kill Nijjar.

Nijjar was killed by shooters outside British Columbia’s gurdwara in Surrey on June 18, 2023. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police arrested Karanpreet, Kamalpreet and Karan Brar in May 2024.

According to the court documents, three of the accused had appeared for the hearing through video conferencing, while one had appeared through the counsel.

They also said that the Canadian Police were clueless about the accused and hence were not appearing in the court for the hearing.

Canada’s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau had claimed that he has “credible allegations" of India’s hand in the killing of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar in Canada last year.

India has denied all the allegations, calling them “absurd" and “motivated" and has accused Canada of giving space to extremist and anti-India elements in their country.
