New Delhi, February 29
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has said government’s denial of entry to a UK professor who is critical of the Modi government was a sovereign decision.
“This particular national came to India on February 22. As you know, the entry of foreign nationals into our country is a sovereign decision,” said MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal after Nitasha Kaul posted a series of tweets claiming she was detained at the Bengaluru airport on Sunday and deported to the UK the next day.
Kaul also said she was not given any reason by the immigration staff nor was she intimated by the Indian Government in advance that her entry into India was unwelcome.
