In a late but important development, some ATMs in Jammu have started keeping sanitisers as a precautionary measure for people using the machines.

Earlier, all ATMs of the city did not have sanitisers inside the cabins.

While most of the residents can be seen using their own safety measures, like masks and sanitisers, but the shortage of both in the market has left many without these.

The three ATMs from Exchange road to Rehari Chungi are most frequented, but none had any sanitiser placed inside it.

“We often used to ask the guard to keep a sanitiser or a handwash at the ATM as many customers use the machine every day, but nothing happened. But now, a handwash has been kept at J&K Bank’s ATM at Rehari,” said Upainder Krishan, a resident of Rehari.

However, some ATMs, including those of State Bank, still do not have sanitiser or handwash.

A guard at a State Bank ATM at Rehari Chungi said they had not been provided with sanitisers for customers.
