Acting, writing, singing, dancing... Preetika Rao does it all with a focus to grow

A self-driven journey

Actress Preetika Rao had a successful debut that followed recognition in the show Love Ka Hai Intezaar and episodic series Laal Ishq. Now, she is all set to woo the masses with her first single, which happens to be a Punjabi pop composed by Nakkulogic who has produced several popular tracks for Badshah.

“I love to hear Punjabi music, especially in my vanity van while getting ready for my shoots,” says Preetika, who tried to master Punjabi dialect for this one. “I hope people appreciate my effort,” says the Beintehaa-fame actress.

Preetika has also sung covers of popular Hemant Kumar numbers and has a YouTube Channel under her name. Apart from singing, she is also gearing up for her digital debut – a web-series titled Love Sorries, which is to be launched on MX Player soon.

Preetika has been offered many Punjabi movies in the past, “I did Telugu and Tamil movies but compared to them Punjabi is an easier language, and now that I have recorded a Punjabi song, I might as well take up Punjabi movies,” she says.

A model, actor, writer and now a singer, Preetika is a jack of all trades but says she is making all the effort to at least master one of these. She knows what she wants and also what she wishes to stay away from. And for this clarity, Preetika thanks her elder sister Amrita Rao. Amrita is the reason she got first-hand insight into the film-industry. She adds, “I am a very private person, not too enamoured by fame. Due to my sister, I know the life of a mainstream Bollywood actress and somewhere it was a conscious decision to not join Bollywood.”

Incidentally, her successful show, Beintehaa had a re-run in many countries and even got translated into various languages with corresponding titles to suit audiences right from Tamil Nadu to Turkey to Indonesia. Preetika expresses her joy for having been invited twice to Dar-Es-Salaam in Africa as a chief-guest to an International film festival, “It was an out-of-the-world experience for me to meet my African fans and I feel that when man created boundaries, God created artists who could transcend borders with the magic of art, cinema, music and entertainment.”
