Veteran actress Shashikala passed away due to old age on April 4. The 88-year-old actress breathed her last at her Mumbai residence. The news of Shashikala’s demise was shared on Facebook by writer Kiran Kotrial. Sharing two major throwback pictures of the late actress, Kiran wrote, “Rest in peace Shashikala”. Shashikala was married to Om Prakash Saigal and has two daughters.

Shashikala started acting at the tender age of 5 and has worked in several Hindi films as well as television shows. She has more than 100 films to her credit, including Sujata, Aarti, Anupama, Phool Aur Patthar, Ayi Milan Ki Bela, Gumrah, Waqt, Khubsoorat Pardesi Babu, Baadshah, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, Mujhse Shaadi Karogi and Chori Chori to name a few. She has also acted in TV shows such as Son Pari, Jeena Isi Ka Naam Hai and many others. May her soul rest in peace!
