Although evicted from Bigg Boss 14, reality TV actor Rahul Mahajan fondly remembers his stint

“There is always an exit time that’s not in one’s hand, whether it’s Bigg Boss or life, so I am not complaining,” says reality TV actor Rahul Mahajan, who was evicted after spending four weeks in the famous house. Having made an appearance in the popular reality show in 2008 and 2015 before, Mahajan feels overwhelmed about the love that came his way in Big Boss 14 this time around. “My fellow mates took good care of me; they ensured I ate well, my clothes were washed and I slept well. I was so touched.”
With the world dealing with the pandemic, inside the House they could use facilities like a swimming pool. While the meals were limited, Mahajan banked upon fruits. If warmth of the housemates — Abhinav Shukla, Rubina Dilaik, Jasmin Bhasin, Eijaz Khan and others — touched Mahajan the most, there was a low too. “I really couldn’t stand the unnecessary screaming sans any issue.” Would he have loved to spend more time there? “It would have been nice, but I had gone with a resolve to stick to my usual self, not going the sensational way just to extend my stay.”
Balancing act
Mahajan, who got married on national TV on reality show Rahul Dulhaniya Le Jayega (2010) and was also seen in Nach Baliye believes that it’s in a contestant’s hands to manage one’s personal as well as professional life. “For this outing at Bigg Boss, I was committed that I was going to keep my personal life out of it. Except for my wife’s picture, I did not bring my family in — neither my sister, nor mother.”
Two marriages and divorces, Mahajan is enjoying marital bliss with his third wife —Natalya Ilina. “This time at Bigg Boss was also different because I had someone waiting for me to come out. I was safe inside, my thoughts were with her coping in the pandemic,” says Mahajan, thrilled to be back home and planning a trip for the two of them.
Political view
Son of politician Pramod Mahajan, do we see him entering politics? “I want my country to do well but politics is not just the only route, my focus is on being a good citizen. If each one of us resolves to do that everything would fall in place, including politics.”
Is there a reality show he wants to be a part of? “Well, I am too scared of heights and snakes — that leaves Khatron Ke Khiladi as an ideal platform to face the fear. Though I admit even the thought scares me, but given a chance I would love to take a shot at it.”
As for 2021, Rahul Mahajan says, “In 2020, migrant labourers suffered, so I wish 2021 provides them with a good life.” Amen!
