What made you accept Anything For Love?
I have grown up watching MTV shows and this is a kind of show that has never been seen before on Indian television. The show will evaluate partners on various aspects like compatibility and how well they know each other in a very funny way.
What is the USP of a good anchor?
I feel a good anchor should be driving the energy of the show. Contestants will always be busy with their own stuff. It is left to the host to put together a good show.
In your view, who are good anchors in India?
There are three hosts whom I have grown up watching —Nikhil Chinappa, Cyrus Sahukar and Cyrus Barrucha. They are the one who have always made a special bond with the audience. And I am hoping I will be able to fill in their shoes one day.
How far will you go for Anything For Love?
Well, I recently got married to my love Nikita – that is the farthest I can go. But jokes apart, Anything For Love is a phrase and when you actually put across with all kind of tasks in a reality show then you actually know if you can do it or not. Having said that, I would definitely do anything for my wife Nikita.
What does it feel to resume work just after marriage?
We both have the rest of our lives with each other. I have a very supportive partner in my wife who never holds me back for going to work. In fact, I feel lucky that I have got work in the pandemic.
How much are you missing the stage vibes?
A lot. Initially I did a few virtual shows but the high and adrenaline rush which I get from performing live is incomparable. However, I love the fact how we humans can adapt to things.
From where have you got your sense of humour?
I would say initially from my parents. They are very chilled out parents who make fun of each other. They have been very supportive towards my career. Whatever I am today I owe it to them. Professionally, I am a big admirer of Vir Das and Johnny Lever.
There are circumstances when you feel low but you still have to make people laugh, what you do then?
I find solace in comedy. There has been time when there was a death in the family, but I went on performing.
You write your own comedy. Where do you find inspiration?
You ask any comedian, they always keep their eyes and ears open. We are always on the job. We observe things in a different way which non- comedian can’t do. I seek inspiration from my surroundings.
