Zoya Akhtar on Monday got candid about her upcoming film, The Archies, which is an adaptation of the famed comic books. Speaking at an event, the director revealed what inspired her to make a musical on the comic books.
Zoya said, “Archies, because it is the comics that is close to my heart and it was the only comics which was about kids, regular teenagers. It was about regular teen life. It is what I grew up reading in the ‘80s. It was my childhood.” The director also dropped hints about what fans can expect in the screen adaptation. Assuring that she has retained the ‘vibe’ of the comics, she added, “The story revolves around the interpersonal relationship within the seven characters and their shenanigans.”
Zoya said if she felt any ‘pressure’ while working on this film at a time when Riverdale is streaming on the same OTT platform.
