Farhan Akhtar-Shibani Dandekar wedding: Javed Akhtar reads out poem for the occasion

Chandigarh, February 19

Bollywood power couple Farhan Akhtar and Shibani Dandekar got married in Khandala today, February 19 in an intimate wedding with close friends and family. The low-key wedding ceremony took place at Farhan Akhtar’s father, Javed Akhtar’s farmhouse in Khandala. Farhan and Shibani ditched a traditional Maharashtrian wedding or a nikah and instead exchanged vows.

Javed Akhtar, Farhan's father, read out a poem that he had especially composed for this occasion.

Talking about Farhan-Shibani's intimate wedding, a source informed India Today, "They wanted to keep it as basic and simple as possible. The guests have also been asked to wear easy colours like pastels and whites for the wedding. There won't be a nikah or a Marathi wedding. Instead, they have chosen to make it an intimate vow ceremony. Both have written down their vows which they will read out on the main wedding day, which is February 19."

While Shibani dressed in all-red ensemble for the wedding, Farhan looked dapper in a black tuxedo.

Bride's friend Rhea Chakraborty, dressed in a white lehenga, was seen entering the venue. Hrithik Roshan also arrived at the venue with his parents Rakesh Roshan and Pinkie Roshan. He was dressed in a white Indian outfit.

Dressed in a blue floral lehenga, Anusha Dandekar was seen arriving at the venue with another guest. Farhan’s father Javed Akhtar wore a blue kurta with sunglasses and mask. He was clicked in his car with other guests.

Amrita Arora, Ritesh Sidhwani, Ashutosh Gowariker, and Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra also attended the wedding.

According to India Today, their confirmed wedding guest list also included Meiyang Chang, Gaurav Kapoor, Samir Kochar, Monica Dogra. Shah Rukh Khan is on the guest list too.

Earlier in the day, Shibani shared her excitement about the wedding by sharing a picture where she is holding a pair of red high heels. In the caption, she wrote, “Let’s do this."

Farhan and Shibani will reportedly have a court marriage on February 21, following which they will host a reception for their celebrity friends.
