In a recent interview with entrepreneur Raj Shamani, the 70-year-old actor said that while he helped raise her son Sikander Kher from her previous marriage, it was not until he turned 60 that he began to feel the absence of having witnessed a child grow up in front of him.

“I do a lot of work with children through my foundation. I am fond of kids. I used to host a children’s show ‘Say Na Something to Anupam Uncle’,” Anupam shared. “When somebody asked me if I ever felt the void, I said yes—and it’s the truth.”

“We tried, but it did not happen”

Anupam also opened up about the reasons he and Kirron never had children of their own.

“It did not happen initially. Kirron could not conceive, and when she did, the pregnancy was not developing properly,” he said. “I was too busy trying to make it big… and Sikander was enough for me. He came into my life when he was four. I never felt anything was missing back then.”

The couple’s love story began with friendship during difficult phases in both their lives. Kirron was navigating a troubled marriage and Anupam had just gone through a breakup. Over time, their bond blossomed into love before they got married in 1985.

Meanwhile, Anupam is making headlines for the release of his latest movie “Tanvi The Great,” which hit theatres on July 18. The film features Shubhangi Dutt, Boman Irani, Jackie Shroff and Pallavi Joshi.
