The Northern India Institute of Fashion Technology (NIIFT), Mohali, organised an exhibition to showcase the creations of its Textile Design students at the Government Museum and Art Gallery, Chandigarh.
This exhibition marked the culmination of a five-month industrial training programme undertaken by the students with leading fashion and textile brands.
Known for their innovative creations, NIIFT students showcased their hard work, dedication and passion for design through a variety of works. Each piece told a story inspired by diverse sources such as material waste, cultural trends, nature and tradition.
Each student was required to present three collections designed for upcoming fashion seasons. Every creation was supported by extensive research and a strong conceptual narrative.
Asmita, who trained with Blackberrys Industries, Delhi, spoke about her focus on sustainability. She drew inspiration from Japanese pottery aesthetics. Ishika, from Tissage Rugs, Jaipur, highlighted the complex techniques behind rug-making, with collections influenced by French heritage, natural forms and nomadic spirits. Nisha, trained at Nahar Fabrics, Lalru, displayed curated collections incorporating sustainability through unique micro-algae, a bold black-and-white theme, and linear florals. Shreya presented a Spring/Summer 2026 collection featuring men’s summer designs with block prints in blue, white, and red, along with schiffli embroidery. She worked with Triburg, New Delhi.
Other participants included Arshpreet (Vardhman Pvt Ltd, Baddi), Ishika (Shades of India, Noida), Nipun (Ganga Acrowools, Ludhiana) and Kriti (Shree Lifestyle, New Delhi), all of whom delivered thoughtful collections.
A jury of industry experts evaluated the students’ work and presented awards.
