It can be the fans or the story’s demand to initiate a sequel to a hit movie. While sequels often try and match up with the level of their prior instalments, it is not an easy task to have the audiences hooked onto a subject for more than one movie. Here’s a list of the most-anticipated sequels of 2022 to watch out for:

Action time: Extraction 2

The first look from the upcoming action-thriller Extraction 2 was released recently. The film brings back both director Sam Hargrave and actor Chris Hemsworth, and serves as a sequel to Extraction (2020). The action moves from Bangladesh’s capital Dhaka to a much colder place, as protagonist Tyler Rake can be seen posing on what looks like a train traversing a snowy landscape.

Hit formula: Gadar 2

Sunny Deol has already begun shooting for the much-awaited sequel to the 2001 superhit film Gadar. For Gadar 2, Deol will be reprising his role as Tara Singh and will be accompanied by Ameesha Patel, who played the role of Sakeena in the first instalment. Deol also shared an image on Instagram confirming that the shooting for the film is indeed underway.

Being hero: Heropanti 2

Tiger Shroff will be back in full action avatar with the sequel of his debut film Heropanti. The actor recently shared a picture of himself, posing on a throne, from the film. He also shared the release date of Heropanti 2 —April 29, 2022.

Entry zone: No Entry 2

On his birthday last month, Salman Khan confirmed that No Entry 2 could be really happening! According to a source close to the makers of the film, the three principal characters of No Entry 2 are locked—Salman Khan, Anil Kapoor and Fardeen Khan.

Money game: Raid 2

Producer Kumar Mangat Pathak recently announced that he is developing Raid 2, starring Ajay Devgn, about the recent income tax raids in Kanpur and Kannauj on perfume trader Piyush Jain. The film will be a sequel to the 2018 hit film Raid.

Great stint: Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2

Vidya Balan popularised the role of Monjulika in the first instalment of Bhool Bhulaiyaa’ and according to director Anees Bazmee, the actress has to be there for the second part! The movie also stars Kartik Aaryan, Kiara Advani and Tabu.

Fun & frolic: Go Goa Gone 2

Directed by Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK, Go Goa Gone was about three men whose Goa trip turns out to be a zombie nightmare. Meanwhile, Saif Ali Khan recently confirmed his disassociation with the second part of the movie.

He’s back: Bajrangi Bhaijaan 2

Bollywood movie Bajrangi Bhaijaan is getting a sequel, which is titled Pawan Putra Bhaijaan, as confirmed by Salman Khan himself. However, the movie is yet to be finalised in terms of script and ideation.

Fantasy zone: Avatar 2

Avatar 2 takes place several years after the events of the original movie, showing Jake Sully and Neytiri as parents, with their tribe forced to vacate the forest and seek refuge in Pandora’s reefs.

John Wick—Chapter 4

The latest John Wick’s chapter promises to bring more mind-blowing action and spectacular scenes. And with John Wick 5 being filmed back-to-back with the fourth instalment, fans will have no shortage of their favourite assassin’s revenge stories!

Jurassic World: Dominion

The sixth instalment in the iconic dinosaur franchise, Jurassic World: Dominion, will pick up from the events of Fallen Kingdom and explore the world where the humans and ancient reptiles have to co-exist. Many fans were excited to learn that the sequel would see the return of the original cast members, including Jeff Goldblum, Sam Neill, and Laura Dern.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever

Black Panther Wakanda Forever is the sequel to the 2018 hit movie Black Panther, which was headlined by Chadwick Boseman. The movie, which is under production at the moment, is set to release in November this year. The cast includes Danai Gurira and Daniel Kaluuya, among others. — TMS
