How did you get into acting?
I began my acting journey with theatre when I was in Delhi. I did a few plays with Rangsaptak Group, Pratibimb and Italia Theatre. After gaining some knowledge, I decided to shift to Mumbai to establish my acting career.
Tell us more about your role in Kundali Bhagya…
My role is a very bubbly and spunky one. I am playing the role of Karan Luthra’s best friend Sonakshi. She will be seen adding her own shades to her story. I feel viewers will just have to watch to know more about her.
This is your first show with Balaji Telefilms. Did you face any difficulty?
There weren’t any difficulties I had to face. Balaji Telefilms is very organised because they have been in the industry for several years and have plenty of shows running. There was absolutely no room for any confusion of any kind. It has been a smooth experience till now with them and I am really happy about it.
How did you prepare yourself for this role?
Initially, I was briefed about the character by the creative head, Mukta ma’am, she is someone who knows exactly what she wants from a character. After getting a brief about the role, I realised that it’s a character very similar to Kajol’s (Anjali) from Kuch Kuch Hota Hai.
What is the most challenging scene that you’ve shot for the serial?
I feel the first day of my shoot with Kundali Bhagya was a little challenging because everything about the show was very new to me. It’s a similar feeling like when we enter a new school, the first day is difficult but it gets easier as you make friends.
Having done a variety of roles in your career, are you now content as an actor?
No, I believe an actor can never be completely content, there is always a part of us that wants more roles, scenes and better work every single time. I am very greedy as an actor. I am always on the lookout for better roles.
Who do you consider to be your acting role model?
My acting role model would be Kate Winslet. I really love the way she walks and the kind of roles she has chosen. She has always been a mainstream actress and unlike other actors, she does not need to worry about her weight for any lead role.
If not an actor, what would you have been?
I am from Chandigarh and I would most probably be a CA because I had pursued commerce stream during my school years.
Your dream role?
There are so many of them but a role like Eleven from Stranger Things is something that I would like to do.
