Singer, lyricist, music composer, Goldie Sohel is all of it and more. After foot-tapping numbers such as Kinne Saala Baad, Baat Nahi Karni, Kasam, Dil Da Khayal and the most recent one Aaaj Sajeya, he has now composed Kareeb, a quintessential dance number that was out two days back.
Penned by Kunaal Vermaa, Kareeb is sung by Vishal Dadlani and released by TM Music. It features Siddharth Nigam and Ashi Singh. More of an experiment for fun, Kareeb took shape just like that.
“I wanted to make a song in the pop, funk, RnB and disco space as I love these genres. I was experimenting with Kareeb when Tarsame Mittal asked me to make a song for Vishal Dadlani. When we sent the song to him, he liked the scratch and instantly agreed to do the vocals. It has been a great feeling. I am so happy that he liked it. I’ve grown up listening to his music and to have him on board for this song is an honour for me.”
Kareeb is also Goldie’s first solo song as a music producer. Coming from a family of musicians, it isn’t a surprise that he chose to make music his career. “I grew up watching my grandfather who used to sing for the All-India Radio and my father is a singer-songwriter. This led me to have a deeper understanding of music.”
